Triangulation Station

This Missouri River Commission triangulation station is located approximately 1.5 miles southeast of White Cloud, Kansas. Permission was obtained from the landowner to go to the site. After a brief search with a handheld GPS receiver from a calculated position, the monument was easily found even though no one locally had known of its existence. The view of the Missouri River is now obscured by trees. A precision GPS receiver was placed over the point in order to get a current location and compare it to the Missouri River Commission's position of 1890.
