This excavated stone was placed by Lancaster County Surveyor Winfield S. Scott after he failed to find the original GLO stone set in 1857 by Jonathan P. Jones. The stone placed by Scott is a Red Sandstone measuring 15"x15"x4". Beneath the stone was found a wooden stake measuring 1"x2"x12" with the lower tip being charred.
