This bench mark is located about 4 miles southeast of Rapid City along what is now known as the Pierre, Rapid City & Eastern Railroad. (Formerly the DM&E and before that the C&NW). In 1952 it was used by USGS as a Transit Traverse point for quad sheet mapping. The stamping of "RESET" indicates it might have been slightly moved from its historic location.

Originally established as an iron post with bronze cap.
Now set in concrete. View is looking north.

Another view looking northeast.

The south side of the monument

The top of the cap with the added stamping of "TT 1952 Reset".
