This bench mark, known as "DW 3604", is located in the flatlands east of the Black Hills near Highway 79. It is along the westerly right-of-way of the Chicago & North Western Railroad approximately 5.5 miles southwest of the small town of Fairburn.



Looking south-southeast.
The bench mark is in a pasture along the railroad.



Looking northeast.



Looking toward the west with the Black Hills in the distance.



The top of the bronze cap that has survived relatively unscathed for nearly 115 years.
