The location of this bench mark is where a former railroad junction known as "Minnekahta" was once located. A branch line of the Burlington Railroad to Hot Springs came off the line between Edgemont and Deadwood. At the east end of the "Y" track was the location of the bench mark. Both railroads are gone today with the line between Edgemont and Deadwood now the Mickelson Trail and the line to Hot Springs now being farmed. The location is 10 miles west of Hot Springs, South Dakota, at the entrance to a field off the north side of Highway 18. Recovered by Kurt Luebke, Jenny Stukel Penry, and Jerry Penry.
