One of two permanent bench marks placed in the City of Deadwood that began the "Deadwood Datum". The other was " DW 4543" that was placed on the City Hall building that has since been torn down. This bench mark, 4535, is north and across the street from the restored Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley Railroad Station in Deadwood. If the bench marks began being placed in Deadwood, this is probably the oldest bench mark of the Deadwood Datum. Recovered by Kurt Luebke, Jenny Stukel Penry, and Jerry Penry.
