The bench mark at this location was established by USGS as a copper bolt in a rock outcropping along the west side of the Burlington Railroad. In 1934, surveyors of USC&GS found the monument, but it was not found in 1992 after a thorough search was made. A new bench mark consisting of a bronze disk with the National Geodetic Survey markings was established and designated "DW 4879 Reset 1992". The NGS datasheet states that the bench was reestablished in the general area, but there is no mention as to whether the original drill hole was found and used. Recovered by Dave Ingram, Kurt Luebke and Jerry Penry.
