This iron post bench mark is located approximately 2 miles south of the former town of Pactola which is now under Pactola Reservoir. It is approximately 13 miles west of Rapid City. The bench mark was set well away from the trail, so it was preserved when the trail was widened into a paved road. Recovered by Jerry Penry and Jenny Stukel.
