A solitary bench mark pipe undisturbed for over 110 years. This marker is located near the historical location of Fisher and Hunter Siding on the CB&Q Railroad. It is also a couple of miles north of the former community of Redfern. The railroad has long since vanished as have these communities. Today the bench mark is located between the Mickelson Trail and a gravel road. The town of Hill City, South Dakota is located approximately 8 miles to the south. Recovered by Kurt Luebke, Jenny Stukel, and Jerry Penry.

A faded survey marker sign as well as a modern carsonite sign give protection to the bench mark.

Jenny Stukel and Kurt Luebke are in the background on the former railroad grade which is now the Mickelson Trail.

A side view of the cap that faces the nearby road. The indentations appear to be from .22 caliber bullets.

The top of the cap. The "TT" indicates it was later used as a traverse point.
