Triangulation station DIVIDE is a primary horizontal control point on the 98th Meridian Survey that passed through Nebraska between 1898 and 1901. The original description by USC&GS said it was located on the summit of a prominent hill one mile south of the town of Divide. The post office for this town was discontinued in 1906 and it quickly vanished from existence. Today the location is approximately 10 miles southwest of Loup City.

The surface monument is an 8-inch square marble post which is set over the top of of an earthenware crock with a drill hole in the bottom. In 1933 a C&GS recovery team found the marble post and placed concrete around the top. Today the hill is used for pastureland and a magnificent view can be seen in all directions.

Initials have been carved into the top surface by surveyors or others? The location is very remote, so it is unlikely that very many people ventured to the area.
