Bench Mark"T-1"

Bench mark "T-1" was established by USC&GS in the city park at Winside, Nebraska, in 1900. This monument is an 8"-square limestone post. The last update for this mark was by C&GS in the year 1947. Remarkably nearly every reference tie still exists except for the railroad which has been gone for many years. In 1947 it was noted that the monument was 1.8' from a 12" ash tree. Today that same tree still exists, but now measures 34" in diameter and the bench mark is 0.9' from the face of the tree. The tree does not appear to have compromised the position of the bench mark.
The old bench mark is at the base of the 34" ash tree.
