This original bench mark is located approximately one mile east of Clinton, Nebraska, along the former C&NW Railroad. The copper bolt was set into a recessed area of a block of limestone or sandstone which was used to make the culvert.

The C&NW Railroad had many of these stone masonry structures which were used for drainage culverts.
