NO. 41915

January 16, 2012
Primary Traverse Station No. 4 (1915) was placed on the southeast headwall of a railroad bridge along the south edge of Humboldt. In the late 1990's or early 2000's, the railroad decided to build a new bridge and cut off a major part of the old concrete abutment and removed the marker. The area around the bridge where the concrete pieces were discarded was searched, but the marker could not be found.
The circle indicates the approximate location where the marker was once located.
Looking east-northeast.
Gene Thomsen stands upon part of the old concrete abutment that was sawned off when the new bridge was built.
Looking north.
Looking at the opposite side (west) of the bridge.
The marker would have been located on the concrete abutment to the lower left of the photo, but much higher.
Looking southwest at the west side of the bridge.
The railroad used a huge saw to cut out parts of the old concrete abutment for the new bridge.
