Primary Traverse Stations in Nebraska
The 1905 Primary Traverse had a total of 8 stations. Six were located in Otoe and Nemaha counties in Nebraska and two were in Fremont County, Iowa. Today, only Station 8 exists near the former town of Wyoming, Nebraska. The search for the 1905 traverse stations was made on January 19, 2015, by Gene Thomsen and Jerry Penry.
The 1913 and 1915 Primary Traverse Stations were placed in Nemaha and Richardson counties in southeast Nebraska as primary control points during the topographic quad sheet mapping for quad sheets Howe (1915); Falls City (1915); and Humboldt (1916). The 1913 traverse had 25 stations, while the 1915 traverse had 15 stations. Searches were made on January 16, 2012, and January 21, 2013, by Gene Thomsen and Jerry Penry with every location searched. Below are those monuments that are still existing today.
